Our Aging Parents and Relatives!

By: Evelyn Mann at "The Bib Shoppe" -  Specializing in Adult Bibs!

Getting old is not easy and if you ask any elderly person (especially one with health problems) they will verify that for you. Even those surrounded by family, loved ones, friends, and pets often find it difficult to cope. Who wants to deal with finding your friends in the obituaries, food that no longer tastes good, movements that are slow and sometimes painful, and the thought that the years are numbered?  Golden years – how golden?

What can we do for our aging loved ones? We can watch carefully and offer our time and love. It isn’t always enough to visit an aging loved one for an hour or so. They can make everything seem hunky-dory in that amount of time and it is easy to miss problems they might be having. In order to get the full picture we need to be with them for a 24 hour period at least. Take the time to be with your aging loved ones.

Keep a list of things they need done around the house, apartment, or facility they live in.  When there is time for a visit, try to take care of an item or two on that list. Notify other family members or friends of the list and encourage them to look at it when visiting.

These loved ones don’t need more things. They need time, attention, and affirmation they are loved and significant. Send a funny card, a caring card, or a note of some sort whenever possible. Older people still like “snail” mail and they are appreciative of the thought. A simple phone call is often just what is needed to alleviate loneliness.

Encourage grandchildren who are old enough to show interest in their older relatives. It helps them gain compassion. Even if the older person is grumpy and negative, there is often some fascinating information that can only be learned from someone who lived decades ago. My daughter found it fascinating that my mom came across the ocean in 1947 in a prop airplane.

When we focus on “acts of kindness”, let us not forget “the old folks”. How wonderful to think of something “special” to do for an older person and maybe even see their face light up.

Starting a New Business - 12 Tips from The Bib Shoppe

The Bib Shoppe has been in business now for five years. Yeah!
www.bibshoppe.com

Having a business is hard work, but Evelyn and I (business partners) wouldn’t trade it for the world.

We are a custom manufacturer, wholesaler, and retailer of unique, fashionable, adult bibs/cover-ups!

The Bib Shoppe meets the needs of the elderly, special needs, babies, travelers, and more by providing colorful, well made, trendy protection for everyday spills and upsets. Protecting nice clothing from accidental spills by providing practical, fun, attractive and wearable designer bibs is our priority.

We also sell minky blankets, baby bibs, animal lovies, toddler dress bibs, oven door dress dishtowels, and more, but our main specialty is our line of adult boutique bibs and adult towel bibs.

If you are just starting a small business of your own, I wanted to share a short, simple list of 12 tips I personally have learned in these five years.

1. Remember, you bank is your best friend.
2. Set up your accounting system correctly and early.
3. Take the time to find the best quality contractors and wholesalers you can find.
4. Design a functional, attractive, and easy-to-use website.
5. Check out your web designer and your shopping cart company thoroughly before purchasing.
6. Set up social media websites, i.e. blog, twitter, facebook, and more.
7. Determine to provide prompt, friendly customer service.
8. Listen to what your customers want and provide it.
9. Learn new computer programs you might need, i.e. Photoshop, html, photography, accounting programs.
10. Accept your mistakes (and there will be some) and move on.
11. Balance your business time and personal time appropriately.
12. Enjoy what you are doing!

Hopefully, if you are starting your own business now or soon, you will take these tips to heart.

Best wishes on your new adventure.

Kathy Griffin and Anderson Cooper Love Adult Bibs

Adult Bibs - Giant Life Size Baby Bib for People

Please email us with all Bib Shoppe Questions or Comments :-)

I am so proud that the Adult Bib industry is getting publicity. I recently saw the YouTube entitled Kathy Griffin & Anderson Try Adult Bibs on for Size – You Tube.  I loved it. Not only were “adult bibs” portrayed in a positive and fun way, they were portrayed as a practical use for food and for carrying things around with you in their pockets.
The Bib Shoppe started with the inspiration of the owner’s father who happens to be a serial spiller. After his excitement of receiving four adult bibs, the vision was formed. At “The Bib Shoppe”, we have been selling adult bibs and adult towel bibs since 2008. Our business has expanded into other areas, but the first item we manufactured was our adult bibs. Our pride in this industry grows more day by day.
Our Adult Bibs are made for adults of all ages. They are great for driving to work while eating, formal dinners, nursing homes, assisted living centers, eating spaghetti, people with special needs, or just sitting on your couch in the privacy of your own home. We have even sold our bibs for using outdoors to put rabbit seed in the pockets for walking around feeding the rabbits.  The uses are endless.
The Bib Shoppe sells two types of adult bibs – our 100% cotton reversible bibs and our towel bibs to fit your style and/or need.
As Kathy Griffin say about adult bibs, “This is perfect…This is a dream.” She is right.
The Bib Shoppe sells both retail and wholesale upon request. We can custom make quantity adult bibs just for your need.

ADULT BIB
I recently bought your “Praise the Lord” bib for a friend who has Stage 4 cancer. When she is lying down wearing her bib, her family and friends read the Scripture verses from the bib to her. What a blessing. Thank you Bib Shoppe.

TOWEL BIB
"You ladies have hearts of gold! Your business will prosper because of that! Mom loved the length [of the towel bib]; it covered her lap...so we were very happy with it."

ADULT BIBS FOR NEW MOTHERS - This is a new mom's MUST HAVE."

"I am a new mom and was tired of my adorable baby spitting up all over me. He has great aim and would somehow spit up on my chest and inside my shirt! So I thought to myself, the bibs that he is wearing does nothing to protect me and my clothes. I need a bib! I found the Bib Shoppe online and immediately ordered my adult bib. I absolutely love the color choices and I picked out the color that matches my color wheel so I can look fabulous at all times, especially feeding the baby. It’s easy to put on and take off and I love the pockets that I use for my phone and an extra pacifier. This is a new mom's MUST HAVE!"

ADULT BIB
I just used my new bib today, and thanks to the ‘food vest’, I was able to eat my soup and not wear it at the same time.

CHRISTMAS ADULT COVER-UP/BIB
My mother loves the Thanksgiving and Christmas bibs I bought, and I am using mine while cooking. I am so messy.
